Vancouver Island

Vancouver, Canada. Orientation and starting point for our journey along the Panamerican Highway to Chile. Also the place where we bought our VW bus. The uncertainty of where we can spend the next night and little time for sightseeing. It was a very special kind of stay. The time in Vancouver was intensive and above all marked by all the organizational and administrative necessities for the actual trip. There was little holiday atmosphere. All the more reason for departure. We wanted to leave as soon as possible. Out of the big city and into the wild. But the cold temperatures forced us to change our plans. The first destination should not be Banff National Park but Vancouver Island. It was a good decision.

We liked the island so much, especially the surfing paradise Tofino, that we extended our camping stays always by further nights. Surfing, whale watching and the first mishap with the van. However, the nights were getting colder and colder and we dreamt of the warm south. From Victoria we travelled to the USA by ferry via Port Angeles on October 7th.
